Livestock and fisheries are critical pillars of South Sudan’s economy and livelihoods.
South Sudan has an estimated livestock population of more than 11 million cattle, 12 million goats, and 12 million sheep, making it one of the most livestock-rich countries in Africa. Livestock contributes significantly to household income, food security, cultural practices, and economic activities across the country.

To promote, regulate, and facilitate livestock and fisheries production, value addition, investment, and market access through effective policies, research, extension services, disease control, and stakeholder partnerships for sustainable socio-economic development.

A modern, productive, and sustainable livestock and fisheries sector that contributes significantly to food security, employment creation, poverty reduction, and national economic growth.
